A great Disneyland video

Like I mentioned in my previous post, my family had a wonderful time in Disneyland.  I specifically had a great time.  I feel like such a kid when I'm there.  I love going on rides and soaking in the charm.  Anyhow, I haven't been able to stop thinking about how great it was and how much I can't wait to go back.  So I thought I'd share a video that Erin sent to me.

This video gives the absolute best way to tell your kids about going to Disneyland and I swear I will do it someday with my own kids.  I love that the little girl get's so excited that she cries:)  Kids are so great! They put so much joy in life (them, along with my constantly happy and excited husband).

My major has helped me gain many new ideas about how to parent, teach, discipline, communicate, and play with children.  I have loved every minute of it.  However, I have realized through my many hours of class that the best parents are those who aren't necessarily the best educated or the smartest.  The best parents are those like the parents in this video who proactively think of creative things to do with their children and ways to make things fun for them.  Ultimately, the best parents are those who are willing to put in the time to play and be creative.  I hope that I can be that kind of parent when I have children of my own.

Enjoy the video!

DISNEYLAND!!!

The Ure Family Reunion 2012 was a blast! It was wonderful to finally be together as a family (we haven't ALL been in the same place at the same time since Dix and I were married over a year and a half ago). We started out in San Diego at Sea World and Universal Studios. Unfortunately, Angie and Erin didn't join us until a few days later (we missed them a lot, but we still had fun). On Thursday, we headed to Disneyland. It was amazing! I am a total sucker for Disneyland, but it was especially wonderful to see how excited the kids were. Here was my top ten list from the week (in no particular order):

1. Getting drenched by Shamoo at Sea World... Ok this was not too great, especially because Derid's girls were hysterical about it!

2. Our family T-Shirts. These saved us a million times when people would spot our group and bring back a wandering Ellie. Also, the motto on the back was "We put the FUN in dysFUNctional."

3. Seeing Derid and Christin's families. It is so great to be with them because we don't see them much.

4. Mom getting tricked into going on Space Mountain. Brycen convinced her it was "mild".

5. Going on Grizzly Rapids like a million times:)

6. Eating granola bars ALL DAY EVERY DAY... Ok, No. Everyone got sick of them after day 1.

7. The night Dix and I stayed late with Angie's family... they were crazy. We crossed back and forth all over the park to go on the fun rides. My feet hurt after just an hour with them.

8. Skipping school. No explanation needed.

9. Going on Roller Coasters with my dad. Still one of my favorite things to do.

10. When Dix had the grand idea to seat all the men on one side of the circular raft so that dad would get wet... so funny.

Bonus Favorite: Dix kept mixing Christin and I up (even though we have completely different hair color). He was so stressed out about it all the time:)

Here are some of my favorite pictures from throughout the week. Thanks family for being so amazing! I love you and miss you all!

Moxie cruise to Cabo Mexico

We had a great time on the company cruise this year. Dix and I have been going a million miles an hour and traveling like crazy (which makes keeping up with school quite difficult) but we have been so grateful to have the opportunity to do it because we know that next year will be even more busy.

The cruise this year was a 5 day to Cabo Mexico from San Diego. We had a great time. We made new friends, spent time with old friends, and loved feeling the company unity. We have been so blessed to work for such a great company founded on moral principles. We know that in the industry of summer sales, it is not easy to find a company that isn't shady, but Moxie sets a high standard of honesty. The founder of the company stresses over and over the importance of integrity, hard work, communication skills, and making and keeping commitments, and let me tell you-- he follows through. He is an incredibly honest and hard working man who doesn't believe in cutting corners or making little exceptions to save money, time, etc. We came home this weekend feeling very grateful to be associated with such a great man and a great company.

Dix and a few of his recruits. These are great guys who are fun and super nice.

Dix rocking it on karaoke night... my man can sing!!

Carson and Cassidy. We had a great time with them. A super fun couple!

Our favorite man in Cabo singing us a beatles song after serving us the most delicious tacos.

All our recruits that could make it on the cruise. They were so much fun!

Our trip to Austin

Well folks, We'll be living in AUSTIN... the capitol of Texas!

My favorite picture of the trip. We had so much fun with these kids:)

Tayson looking up downtown... He loved being in the city. He told me over and over again.

Little Ellie Bellie is growing up so much. We had a ton of fun with her!

Mia and I in downtown Austin

Well, here's the deal:
I know that I rambled on and on in my previous post about choosing which city we would be living in-- San Antonio or Austin. It really was a pretty major decision, but the best part of life is that sometimes the big the decisions end up not being so big at all. This requires a little backstory... When Dix and I arrived in Texas, we were super excited and a little nervous. We flew into Austin and we went directly to our hotel to wait for Derid and his family to make it. When they showed up, we had a few minor issues to deal with like the pool being closed because of the rain (major meltdown from all kids... UNDERSTANDABLY. the best part of travel is swimming at the hotel right?) and taking a L O N G time to find a Chuck E Cheese close by in operation (major meltdown #2). All in all, however, things worked out.

We spent the next two days in the city of Austin and we LOVED it. The city was incredible. You know when you are in a city with just a great feel? It was so unique and beautiful (I DID NOT expect it to be beautiful). Dix and I fell in love immediately and decided that we didn't even need to see San Antonio. I know that may seem a little irresponsible, but it just felt so right. Anyhow, it was a truly incredible trip, and we are so excited about our future home!
